American Recovery Association President Dave Kennedy said that this year’s North American Repossessors Summit will represent a new chapter for NARS and the repossession industry.

Unit Carries a Sunny Disposition

0 3abbaBy George L. Nitti

These days it's reassuring to know that in sunny California the winter rains have finally arrived, bringing relief to the scorched earth and fire-prone forests. In wetter conditions, towers are more likely to work too.

Sunnyvale Towing has also benefitted from the congestion of Silicon Valley.

"The traffic is hectic here because there is a lot going on," said Miguel Rubio, a 10-year towing veteran and lead heavy-duty operator. "We are located right behind one of the Apple buildings. The more traffic, the more work."
Eleven of Sunnyvale's units serve stranded motorists and truckers. One such unit would be their 2015 Kenworth T880/25-ton Century wrecker.

"I drive many of our trucks," Rubio said. "You might say I float around."

The company name pops out in bright, yellowish-green lettering, against a blue background, projecting a warm, cheery welcome.

"Mike 'the Stripe,' who is from the area, did the work," Rubio said. "It's all done by hand. We like to make our trucks look nice and loud. We take pride in them. People know who we are by our name."

Up close, it's the artist's creative brush strokes and long flourishes that captivate. Mike "the Stripe's" specialty, pinstriping, serves as the decorative feature that accents the name. Minimal strokes are found at the head of the unit.

"We've had our fair share of rain," Rubio said. "Now we are concerned about mudslides."

The road is a safer place with the likes of this unit that carries a sunnier disposition.
